We built it for the 100 million music creators in the world who are serious about their craft but don't necessarily make a living from it. If you've ever lost track of which mix was "the final one" or wished you had a better way to get feedback on a song, Bounce is for you.

How do I get started?

Sign up for free — it takes about 30 seconds. Then create your first artist (that's your band, solo project, or whatever you're working on). An artist is your band, solo act, or any project with its own library. Upload some music, invite your collaborators, and you're rolling. You get 15 songs per artist for free, with unlimited mixes, stems, and collaborators.

Is Bounce free?

Yes! You can use Bounce for free with up to 15 songs per artist. When you need more, plans start at $5/month for up to 30 songs. All core music features — library, stem mixer, lounge, sharing, collaboration — are included on every plan. Some newer capabilities (like Events) may roll out gradually.

What file formats does Bounce support?

Bounce supports WAV, MP3, AIFF, and M4A uploads. AIFF files are automatically converted to WAV on upload for universal browser playback. Upload whatever format your DAW exports — we'll handle it.

Does Bounce compress my audio?

Accepted Answer

No — Bounce doesn't apply lossy compression to your files. WAV and MP3 play back as uploaded. AIFF is converted to WAV on upload for browser compatibility, not compressed. If you upload a 24-bit WAV, that's exactly what plays back — for you and every collaborator or listener. This is different from platforms like SoundCloud, which transcode everything to compressed formats. Your mixes sound exactly the way you intended.

What's the difference between a mix and a stem?

A mix is a full version of the song — everything mixed together. You might have "Rough Mix 1," "Mix with more vocals," and "Final Master." Bounce keeps them all organized under the same song. A stem is an individual part — drums, bass, vocals, guitar, etc. Stems are what you load into the Stem Mixer to create a new mix right in the browser.

How do I organize my music?

Each song holds all its mixes and stems, plus comments, to-dos, and notes. Songs can be grouped into albums with customizable workflow stages (like Demo → Mixing → Mastered). You can also manage multiple artists from one account. Playing in a band *and* have a solo project? Each gets its own space with its own collaborators.

Can I compare different mixes of the same song?

Yes! Compare mode lets you A/B mixes side by side. Switch between versions without losing your place in the song. It's the fastest way to hear the differences between versions and decide which direction to go.

Can I upload music I didn’t create?

No. Bounce is built for musicians to manage and collaborate on *their own* music. All music uploaded to Bounce must be owned or controlled by you or your collaborators. Bounce is not a platform for playlists of third-party music or songs downloaded from the internet. Uploading music you don't own or have rights to violates our Terms of Service and may result in your account being suspended.

What about AI-generated music?

Bounce is built for human musicians. We understand that AI tools are increasingly part of the creative process and we have no issue with artists who use AI as part of their workflow — for inspiration, production assistance, or as one tool among many. That said, Bounce is not intended for music that is purely AI-generated with no meaningful human contribution — for example, songs created entirely from a text prompt. We're here to support the creative work of real musicians and collaborators.

How do I invite collaborators?

From your artist page, send an email invite or just copy the invite link. Once your collaborator signs up (or logs in if they already have an account) they're immediately part of the project. You can invite as many people as you want — there's no per-seat charge.

Can collaborators upload files?

Yes. Collaborators can upload mixes and stems, leave comments, create to-dos, and add notes. Everyone on the project has the tools to contribute.

How do comments and @mentions work?

You can leave comments on any song. Want to point out something specific? Add a timestamp and the comment links right to that moment in the audio. @mention a collaborator and they'll get an email notification. @mentions also work in to-dos (to assign tasks) and in the Lounge chat.

To-dos are tasks you can create on any song or album. Assign them to collaborators with @mentions, set due dates, and link them to specific moments in the audio. They're a simple way to track what needs to happen before a song is done — like "re-record the bridge vocals" or "get final mastering by Friday."

What is the Stem Mixer?

The Stem Mixer is Bounce's in-browser mixing tool. Upload your stems (drums, bass, vocals, etc.) and mix them without needing a DAW. You get volume, pan, mute, and solo controls on every stem, plus built-in plugins and a mastering chain. It's not meant to replace your DAW — it's meant to let you and your collaborators do mixing work from anywhere, without needing the same software or session files.

What plugins are available?

Every stem has access to EQ (4-band parametric), compressor, delay, and reverb. The master bus has its own chain: input gain, high-pass filter, 4-band EQ, compressor, limiter, and output gain. Enough to shape a solid mix and master it for sharing.

Yes — the "Bounce" button exports your current mix as a WAV file. You name it, optionally apply mastering, and it automatically shows up as a new mix on the song. Your collaborators can listen to it immediately.

The Lounge is a real-time listening room. Hang out with your collaborators, listen to music together, and chat. Every artist gets their own lounge, and there's a shared Bounce Lounge for the wider community.

What counts as a "song"?

A song is a single track in your library. Each song can have unlimited mixes (different versions) and unlimited stems. So a song with 12 mixes and 8 stems still counts as one song toward your limit.

Is it per-artist or per-account?

Per artist. If you have two artist projects, each one gets its own 15-song free tier. If one project needs more songs, you only pay for that artist — the other stays free.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Yes, anytime. Upgrade when you need more songs, downgrade when you don't. If you cancel, you keep access to your existing music — you just can't add new songs beyond the free tier limit.

Bounce works best in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. The Stem Mixer uses the Web Audio API, which is supported by all modern browsers. We recommend Chrome for the best Stem Mixer and Lounge experience.

No native app yet. Bounce works in mobile browsers for listening, reviewing, and commenting. The Stem Mixer has a mobile-adapted layout; full mixing is still best on desktop. A native app is on our roadmap.

Coming soon! Dropbox integration is in development — you'll connect via Settings when it's available. When it launches, bouncing out of your DAW into Dropbox will also update your song in Bounce.

Yes. Your music is stored securely and is only accessible to you and the collaborators you invite. Shared links can be generated and revoked at any time. We use industry-standard encryption and access controls.
